abstract = {Fulvotomentosaside (Ful) was isolated by the Department of Phytochemistry of our institute. Ful at 100, 200 mg/kg sc inhibited hind paw edema produced by sc 0.15 ml of l% carrageenin in normal rats, but it was ineffective in adrenalectomized rats. It also inhibited the swelling of mouse ear induced by croton oil. Ful inhibited considerably the increased vascular permeability induced by ip 0.7% HAc in mice or ic histamine, PGEz and 5-HT lVg in rats respectively. It was ineffective in the granuloma test. Ful did not prolong survival time in adrenalectomized rats. It induced the involution of the thymus. The LD50 of sc Ful in mice was 1080 mg/kg. These results indicate that Ful exert inhibitory effects on the inflammatory process mediated indirectly by the pituitary-adrenal axis.},
