abstract = {Subcutaneous tissue O2 tension and splenic blood flow were determined by O2 microelectrode and dye (neutral red)-distribution technique. DELA at radioprotective dose levels (55 and 110 mg/kg) decreased both subcutaneous tissue O2 tension and blood supply to spleen resulting in tissue hypoxia. The DELA-induced tissue hypoxia was dose-dependent and followed the same time course as the radioprotective effect. These results suggest that the tissue hypoxic effect of DELA is responsible for its radioprotective action.},
