abstract = {A novel selective anticancer preparation, the 5-FU magnetic microspherical carrier (FMS). was prepared from gelatin matrix. It carried a quantity of drugs equivalent to 90% of its weight. and had strong magnetic response (magnetic susceptibility 0.0485 cm3/g). It was retained in a desired target site in human esophagus by magnetic means. One hour after oral administration of FMS the concentration of 5-FU in rabbitis esophagus mucosa attained l mg/g. which was over 30 times as high as that after iv. The quantity of 5-FU in FMS was assayed by UV spectrophotometry. Magnetic guidance of FMS in esophagus was also studied with simulated tests in vitro and in rabbits.},
