abstract = {Effects of total saponins of Panax notoginseng (PNS) were studied on rats and guinea pigs. Ip PNS 60-240 mg/kg decreased adrenal ascorbic acid in rats. Ip PNS 200 mg/kg did not decrease adrenal ascorbic acid in hypophysectomized rats. Ip PNS 200 mg/kg increased plasma corticosteroid in guinea pig from 30±(SD)14 to 103±75μg/100 ml. It is suggested that PNS stimulates adrenocortical function via pituitary gland.},
