abstract = {Indirubin (delta2,31-biindoline-2’,3-dione) is a new drug discovered in China for treatment of chronic myelocytic leukemia.
Mice, rats and guinea pigs were used in this study. The hemopoietic stem cell CFU-S (estimated by spleen colony forming technique), CFU-DC (estimated by in vivo diffusion chamber agar culture), proliferative ability of bone marrow cells ([3H]TdR incorporation) and the quantitative nucleated cells of bone marrow were estimated. There was no inhibition by long-term and high dose of indirubin on CFU-S, CFU-DC and the DNA synthesis of bone marrow cells. Neither the volume of bone marrow nor the blood picture was affected. The mechanism of indirubin is different from that cytocidal chemotherapeutic agents.},
