abstract = {Yuanhuacine is a new diterpenoid isolated from Daphne genkwa. Rats (0.3 kg) and guinea pigs (0.6-0.8 kg) were used. Effects of yuanhuacine (0.01 microg/ml) on isolated uteri in vitro and yuanhuacine (intra-uterine 100 microg/kg) on uteri in situ were studied. The uterine contractions were all augmented, stronger in uterine bodies and pregnant uteri than in uterine Cervis and non-pregnant uteri. No augmentation was seen after iv 100 microg/kg in rabbits.
The rectal temperature of guinea pigs rose 0.90+/-0.06 degrees after intra-uterine injection of yuanhuacine 50 microg/kg. The temperature of rabbits rose 0.80+/-0.06 degrees after iv 100 microg/kg, and rose 1.05+/-0.10 degrees after yuanhuacine was injected 100-200 microg/kg into the subcutaneous “granuloma pouch”. Intragastric gavage of acetylsalicylic acid in rabbits prevented the pyrogenic action. The sera of febrile rabbits contained certain endogenous pyrogens which were destroyed by pepsin.},
