Inhibition of hypersensitivity reactions by oleanolic acid
Abstract
Oleanolic acid (OLA) 50, 100 mg/kg sc significantly inhibited reversed cutaneous anaphylaxis and reversed passive Arthus reaction in rats. OLA 100 mg/kg markedly suppressed Forssman cutaneous vasculitis in guinea pigs and the active Arthus reaction in rats. The delayed hypersensitivity reaction induced by SRBC or dinitrochlorobenzene in mice were also clearly inhibited by OLA. These results suggest that OLA has extensive inhibitory activities on type II, III and IV allergic reactions.
