Relationship between the pharmacokinetic parameters of tranilast and body weights in four animal species
Abstract
The pharmacokinetics of tranilast, N-(3',4'-dimethoxycinnamoyl) anthranilic acid, has been studied after iv 5 mg/kg to mice. rats. rabbits and dogs. The kinetics in plasma was described by a two-compartment model. The t1/2 of the mice, rats. rabbits or dogs were 7.8, 21, ,43 or 115, respectively. When the parameters were fitted to an allometric model. the logarithms of the volume of distribution, rate and t1/2 of clearance were all linearly related to the logarithms of the body weight.
