Rat renal alpha 1-adrenoceptor subtypes: characterization, function, and regulation
Abstract
Renal alpha1-adrenoceptors are involved in the regulation of renal blood flow, glomerular filtration rate, renin secretion, and sodium, calcium and bicarbonate reabsorption. This paper reviews the characterization of rat renal alpha1-adrenoceptor subtypes, their signaling mechanisms, their possible functional roles, and their regulation in the spontaneously hypertensive rat (SHR).
