Antitumor effects of different combinations of oridonin, bleomycin A5 and nitrocaphane
Abstract
The antineoplastic effects of the combinations of oridonin (Orid 7.5 mg/kg+bleomycin A5 (BLM, 1.5 mg/kg+nitrocaphane NC, 0.5 mg/kg) and Orid+BLM on the tumor-bearing mice (sarcoma 180, Ehrlich ascetic carcinoma and leukemia P388) were synergistic as compared with the same dose of either Orid, BLM, NC alone or other combinations. Orid +BLM+MC increased the life span (IS) by 264% in S180-bearing mice and Orid+BLM in ILS by 129% in EAC-bearing mice and 120% in P388-bearing mice. The inhibitory rate of S180 in vivo treated with Orid (7.5 mg/kg), BLM (1.0 mg/kg) and Orid+BLM were 52,44, and 83%, respectively. Orid (1 microg/ml)+BLM (40 microg/ml)+NC (32 microg/ml) and Orid+BLM had a greater cytocidal effect on EAC cells in vitro than either drug alone or other combinations.
