Chronotropic effects of nicotinamide on isolated sinoatrial node of rats
Abstract
The present study is to elucidate the chronotropic effects of nicotinamide on the preparation of isolated sinoatrial node of rats by using glass microelectrode technique. Nicotinamide 30 mM produced marked positive chronotropic effects with the sinus cycle length shortened by 65+/-9 ms (P<0.05), the rate of action potential phase 4 depolarization speeded up by 9.9+/-1.6 mV/s and phase 4 depolarization slope increased by 10 degree9’+/-2 degree6’ (P<0.05). It suggests that nicotinamide act as a positive chronotropic drug.
