Abstract

The sino-atrial conduction time(SACT) was shortened(P<0.01) by iv cycleanine dimethobromide(CY) 1 mg/kg in 20 rabbits, showing the improvement of the conductive function of S-A node. The prolongation of the SNRT was due to diminution of heart rate. After 2 mg/kg iv in 10 rabbits, the SACT, SNRT and P-R interval were not influenced, while the CSNRT and SNRTI were temporarily prolonged (P<0.01), showing that the S-A node automaticity was inhibited transiently, but the A-V junction was not.
CY iv drips lowered BP in 10 dogs by 30-40% as the control, 5 min and 60 min after administration of the drug, the heart rate decreased (P<0.01) and the SNRT,P-R interval prolonged (P<0.01 and 0.05,respectively), but the CSNRT and SNRTI were not so. The prolongation of the SNRT was due to the slowing of heart rate. The results indicate that the drug does not inhibit the S-A node but inhibits the A-V junction.
