Effects of pranolium on action potentials of myocardiac cells and on aconitine-induced arrhythmias
Abstract
In rats pranolium( UM-272, a derivative of propranolol) prevented the arrhythmia induced by iv aconitine 16 microg/kg. Perfusion with 15.6 and 31.2 mg/L on isolated porcine ventricular preparations, the action potential(AP) of the ventricular fiber changed significantly: 1)the amplitude and the maximum rate of depolarization were reduced; 2) the duration and the effective refractory period were prolonged. These results showed that pranolium exhibited the quinidine-like anti-arrhythmic action on myocardium.
