Anti-arrhythmic action of puerarin
Abstract
Puerarin, isolated from root of Pueraria pseudohirsuta, 100 mg/kg antagonized the cardiac arrhythmia induced by chloroform-epinephrine in rabbits and ventricular extra-systole and ventricular tachycardia induced by ouabain in guinea pigs, but was not so effective on aconitine-induced arrhythmia. Its weak local anesthetic activity was revealed by corneal reflex and skin test. The LD50 of puerarin was 738 mg/kg in mice by tail iv.
