Effect of soman on cholinesterase activity and acetylcholine content of earthworm dorsal muscle
Abstract
Earthworm(Elisenia foetida) was poisoned by bating in Ringer’s solution (PH7.2) containing soman (1 μg/ml) for 3 min at 15 ºC. The ChE activity of the earthworm dorsal muscle was lost completely and was not reactivated by 1 mM PAM-Cl. Bathing for 20 min significantly increased the Ach content of the muscle. The earthworms were poisoned by isopropylbicyclic phosohate without affecting the ChE activity and Ach content of the dorsal muscle.
