Hypoglycemic effect and toxicity of eleutherococcus senticosus following acute and chronic administration in mice
Abstract
Intragastric administratins of E. senticosus extract A (80-320 mg/kg/d for 5 days) in mice induced a hypoglycemic response by the 3rd or 4th day, without gross pharmacological effects. Acute ig LD50 for extract A>3 g/kg (25 g dried roots/kg). Acute ig LD50 of extract B=23 ml/kg, iv LD50=8.6 ml/kg.
