Comparison of antihemolytic effects of sodium tanshinone II-A sulfonate and propranolol in vitro
Abstract
Sodium tanshinone II-A sulfonate (DS-201) is a new antianginal drug. Its antihemolytic effect was compared with that of propranolol by measuring Hb in supernatants after hemolysis caused by hypotonic (0.52% NaCl) solution, heat (49-51 degrees), low pH (pH 5.5), saponin (0.04 mmol/l), and antibody secreted by immune mouse spleen cells. All these 5 tests indicate that DS-201 is better than propranolol in membrane-stabilizing effect on rbc.
